Lucas Mertz is a tennis coach at Pure Sport, Singapore's 5.0★ rated tennis and pickleball academy. A tennis coach since 2015 with a strong personal background in competitive tennis, he specialises in kids and junior player development.
Originally from France, Lucas grew up competing through the French federation system — the foundation behind the technical rigour French coaching is known for: precision, footwork, and an eye for biomechanical detail. He went on to teach in numerous clubs across the country and, with the Lyon Tennis League, coached young French prospects with high-level technical, tactical and mental guidance.
In Sydney, where he shared his passion for tennis with a diverse, international clientele, he discovered a different coaching culture — more relaxed, centred on the player's enjoyment. That blend of French technique and Australian sense of fun is exactly what he brought to Pure Sport, where he completed the academy's structured training programme in The Pure Method.
His coaching philosophy is based on adapting to each player: understanding their strengths, identifying areas for improvement, and creating a personalised plan to reach their goals — with great importance placed on enjoying the game while striving for performance.
