The Pure Method

The Pure Method.

The science behind your best game.

Most coaching starts with the shot. Ours starts with the body. The Pure Method uses biomechanics to understand how you move, then builds your technique from there. The result: faster progress, fewer injuries, and sessions you actually look forward to.

Definition

What is The Pure Method?

The Pure Method is a biomechanics-based coaching framework developed by Anthony Claudot over 20 years of professional coaching across 7 countries and 3 continents. Rooted in training at the Sutton Tennis Academy — the LTA's South East High Performance Centre in London, the same centre that shaped Johanna Konta, members of Andy Murray's team and Elina Svitolina's coach — it brings elite-level coaching principles to players of every level in Singapore. The method is built on four pillars: Personalised Diagnostic, Analytical Progression, Applied Biomechanics, and Complete Experience. It is used for both tennis and pickleball coaching, and is taught to every Pure Sport coach through a structured training programme.

The framework

The four pillars of the method.

Each pillar applies to both sports. The principle stays the same; the application changes with the racquet — or the paddle.

Pillar 01

Personalised Diagnostic

Every player is different. Before we pick up a racquet, we assess: posture, footwork, mobility, injury history, level and goals. No off-the-shelf programmes. Your coaching plan is built around your body and your ambitions — not a generic curriculum.

Tennis

Full stroke analysis — serve, forehand, backhand, movement patterns. Video review when available. Focus on the kinetic chain from feet to racquet.

Pickleball

Fundamentals assessment — dink, drive, serve, kitchen transitions. Fast-tracked for beginners. Tailored for those switching from tennis.

Pillar 02

Analytical Progression

Every session has a measurable goal. Your coach knows exactly why they are working on a specific element, and so do you. No "hit 100 balls and hope for the best." We track what is working, adjust what is not, and keep your progression visible.

Tennis

Structured in four-to-eight-week cycles, each with a single technical focus. One cycle might target serve pronation, the next backhand placement.

Pickleball

Faster progression cycles — the sport is more accessible by design. Focus on court positioning, transitions and shot selection under pressure.

Pillar 03

Applied Biomechanics

This is what sets Pure Sport apart. Our approach was shaped at the Sutton Tennis Academy — the LTA's South East High Performance Centre in London, where coaches behind Johanna Konta and Andy Murray's team trained. We fix the mechanics of the movement — the cause, not the symptom. A player who understands their body does not repeat the same mistake.

Tennis

Full kinetic chain coaching: ground contact → hips → shoulder → arm → wrist. Shoulder and elbow injury prevention built in from day one.

Pickleball

Weight transfer, net positioning, eliminating wasted motion. Wrist and elbow injury prevention — especially critical for players over 40.

Pillar 04

Complete Experience

Fun is not a bonus — it is a pillar. Every session is designed so you leave with a smile and with measurable progress. The coaching relationship, the energy, the small wins — none of this is accidental. Players who enjoy the work come back. Players who come back get better. That is the cycle.

Tennis

The satisfaction of a technique clicking into place. The "aha moment" when your serve suddenly has more power with less effort. Fun through mastery.

Pickleball

Group energy, end-of-session matches, a community that forms naturally. Fun through connection. Same coaching standard, different flavour of enjoyment.

So what actually happens on court?

You’ll be moving in the first five minutes.

The method is not a theory you read about — it is the shape of your hour on court. Here are the four moments, in order, every single session.

  • Movement & posture assessment — your coach watches how you move before changing anything. To start.
  • Level & goals mapping — where you are, where you want to be. If a format doesn't suit you, your coach will say so.
  • Real coaching, on the ball — you play, you sweat, you laugh. Most of the hour is spent hitting.
  • Where you stand, and what to work on — format, frequency, next steps, told to you plainly at the end of the session, whether you carry on with us or not.

And you will laugh at least twice. Pleasure is the most important pillar of the method.

Coach training

A method every coach lives by.

The Pure Method is not just Anthony's coaching style. It is a formalised framework that every Pure Sport coach learns, practises and delivers. Here is how.

  • ObservationThe new coach shadows Anthony in live sessions. Structure, corrections, biomechanics, energy management — they see The Pure Method in action before they teach it.
  • Co-coachingThe coach progressively takes the lead, under Anthony's supervision. Real-time feedback on biomechanical corrections, fun management and personalisation.
  • Guided autonomyIndependent sessions with regular debriefs. The coach sends a brief summary after each session — goals, corrections, player feedback. Anthony validates alignment with the method.
  • Pure Sport certifiedThe coach is certified when all four pillars are consistently integrated into their coaching. It is an internal quality standard — not a badge, but a promise to every player.

FAQ

Questions about the method.

What is The Pure Method?

The Pure Method is a biomechanics-based coaching framework created by Anthony Claudot. It combines personalised diagnostic, analytical progression, applied biomechanics and a focus on enjoyment to deliver measurable progress in every session. It is used for both tennis and pickleball coaching at Pure Sport Singapore.

How is Pure Sport different from other tennis coaches in Singapore?

Most coaches in Singapore focus on drills and repetition. Pure Sport starts with understanding how your body moves, then builds technique from there. Our coaches are ITF Gold recognised and trained through a structured programme that ensures consistent quality across every session. We also come to your condo court — no commute, no club fees.

Does The Pure Method work for beginners?

Absolutely. The diagnostic phase exists precisely for this reason — we assess where you are and build from there. Beginners often progress faster with The Pure Method because they learn correct movement patterns from day one, rather than building habits they will need to unlearn later.

Is the coaching the same whether I book with Anthony, Lucas or Jonas?

Yes. Every Pure Sport coach completes a three-month training programme to internalise The Pure Method. The coaching framework is the same — personalised diagnostic, biomechanics, analytical progression and fun. What differs is personality and style, but the standard of coaching is consistent.

Do you use The Pure Method for pickleball too?

Yes. The principles of efficient body movement are universal. The Pure Method applies the same biomechanical rigour to pickleball — from weight transfer and court positioning to injury prevention. Anthony is also a competitive pickleball player, with three medals in Singapore tournaments in 2025.

What qualifications do Pure Sport coaches have?

Every Pure Sport coach is French-qualified, trained under a coach education system the ITF recognises at Gold level. Anthony Claudot also holds a BE 1er degré FFT (French Tennis Federation), NCSF CPT (personal training), and trained at the Sutton Tennis Academy in London. Every coach completes Pure Sport's internal training programme before coaching independently.
