Teen Tennis · Ages 11–17

Teen tennis lessons in Singapore.

For the young player who wants more than a lesson.

Adapted to how teenagers actually want to train: less instruction, more testing. Technique refinement, match strategy and mental focus — for players who want to compete, and for players who simply want to get seriously good. Our ITF Gold recognised coaches come to your condo court, around school and exams.

What changes at 11

They don’t want lessons any more — they want to be tested.

The coaching that works at eight stops working at thirteen. Four things change — and the programme changes with them.

  • The motivation moves — games and encouragement gave way to scoreboards. Teenagers want to see whether the work holds up against someone else, so sessions become built around points, not drills.
  • The body can take more — footwork patterns, movement efficiency and physical conditioning enter the programme properly. Technique is refined rather than introduced, and biomechanics does the heavy lifting.
  • The head becomes the limit — shot selection under pressure, momentum management, recovering from a bad game. Mental focus is coached explicitly, because at this level it decides more matches than the forehand.
  • The diary gets tighter — school commitments come first. We build the schedule around the term, the exams and the tournament calendar, across 20 neighbourhoods so nobody loses an hour in traffic.
Inside a session

Technique, physical, match play.

Every session begins with a personalised diagnostic — we watch before we coach — then works through the three blocks below in the proportion that player needs this week.

1

Technique

Biomechanical stroke correction — grip, stance, follow-through, recovery. We refine movement patterns rather than repeating instructions, so technique holds up when the score gets tight.

2

Physical

Footwork patterns, movement efficiency and physical conditioning, scaled to the player. The aim is a body that can repeat the same shot at the end of a long match as at the start.

3

Match play

Point construction, shot selection and situational drills. Players learn to read opponents, manage momentum and make decisions under time pressure — with coaching intervention between points.

Sessions run private, semi-private or in a small group of up to four players at a similar level — never an overcrowded squad. Whatever the format, the coach tracks what is working, adjusts what isn't, and shows the player the reasoning behind each correction.

Competition

Built for the ones who want to compete.

Competition preparation at Pure Sport runs in four phases. Assessment and goal setting: an in-depth evaluation of stroke quality, movement patterns, tactical awareness and mental resilience, then clear three-month and six-month goals agreed with the player and the parent. Technical foundation: biomechanical analysis and stroke correction, so technique holds up under pressure. Match play and strategy: point construction, pattern play and situational drills. Tournament preparation: pre-match routines, between-point management and recovery strategies — for the moment when there is no coach on court to help.

We recommend a player already rallying comfortably on a full-size court, or with equivalent match-play experience, and two to three sessions per week for serious preparation. We prepare players for competition; tournament registration stays with the parent, and we advise on which events suit the player's level and development stage.

FAQ

Teenagers, parents — the questions we get.

My teenager has never played — is it too late to start?

No. We assess every player individually and place them at the right level, regardless of age. A fifteen-year-old beginner starts where a beginner starts, and that is perfectly fine.

How often should my teenager train?

For serious competition preparation we recommend two to three sessions per week. We can design a personalised schedule around your child's goals, school commitments and tournament calendar.

What level does my teenager need to be to train for competition?

We recommend a player who is already rallying comfortably on a full-size court, or who has equivalent match-play experience. Book an assessment and we will advise honestly whether your child is ready.

What is the difference between competition training and regular lessons?

Competition training is more structured, more intensive and goal-oriented. We work on specific match scenarios, pressure management and strategic patterns — not just technique.

Do you enter players in tournaments?

We prepare players for competition, but tournament registration is managed by the parent. We provide guidance on which events suit your child's level and development stage.

Who coaches the competition programme?

Anthony Claudot leads the competition programme. French-qualified, with 20 years of coaching across 7 countries, he brings international-level expertise to every session. Competition players train with Anthony, Lucas or Jonas.

How much do teen tennis lessons cost?

Private sessions are SGD 130 per hour. Semi-private (two players) is SGD 70 per player. Groups of three or four start from SGD 40 per player. The Junior Tennis Academy runs at SGD 590 per player for a 15-hour block.

Where do sessions take place?

Across 20 neighbourhoods in Singapore, at condo and club courts. Tell us your area and we will suggest the nearest option.
